The Newest O. Family Member: Dexter!

I know you all are very interested in my life, because, HELLO, it's very interesting. You know you want to know all about our new kitty!!!

Greg and I were wanting a cat to share our wonderfully interesting life with. We didn't want just any cat -- we wanted an awesome cat! We thought back to when we cat sat Greg's grandmother's cat, Ruby. Ruby is a Red Abyssinian and a doll! It's surprising, too, that Ruby is 13 years old and still very much an active and sweet cat. Here is a picture of Ruby:

What a cutie. So we decided to look into Abyssinian breeders. We found one about six hours from where we live and decided to go ahead with it! We picked up our kitten on May 23 (also the day of the LOST series finale for those who were wondering) and our lives have been so much fun ever since!

My sweet baby

He is a very curious and funny cat!

Haha....

He likes water

Yes, he is named after the TV show character, Dexter! :) :)

I definitely recommend an Abyssinian as a cat if you're looking for a purebred. They are one of the most ancient breeds. They are very intelligent -- Dexter even fetches! While they are not lap cats and don't really like being held, they are very loving. Dexter loves to play and he also loves to cuddle. He purrs so much, as he loves it when you are loving on him. And yes, they are very playful and curious. He is almost like a puppy because he follows me around and wants to "help" me with every task that I'm doing around the house. He is also a very good travel buddy . We've taken him out of town on a weekend twice now and he does very well to change and he rides very well in the car. It's almost like having a dog. He is very much a member of the family and we are so happy to have him!

If you're interested in an Abyssinian, I suggest that you research the breed and make sure it's a type of cat that is best for your lifestyle. Here are a few websites you might look at:

Of course you can do more of your own research.

I'm going to leave you with some videos of Dexter because, yes, I am that ridiculous. Make fun of me all you want, but I think Dexter is worthy of YouTube!

Alright now, I am seeing a lot of similarities between you and I....for instance I can't live without my fat free Coffee Mate french vanilla creamer and I also say things such as I got my "hurr did" and "burfday"!!
