Anniversary Mini Vacay

For our anniversary last weekend, me and the hubs spent the night over in the museum district at the posh Hotel Zaza.

It was hard to leave our baby, Dexter, especially when he did this:

We got engaged at the Hotel Zaza and we haven't been back much since, so it was so fun to go back! (By the way, you can read our engagement story here.)

The best part? They upgraded us since it was our anniversary! We were so upgraded, our room didn't even have a hotel room number. Yeah, that's right. Our room was called "Fatal Charms." Sounds a bit deadly, but the suite was quite the opposite!

OHHHHH YEAAHHHHHH

Our foyer. You know, 'cause it's necessary.
The half bath. 'Cause it's totally necessary, too.
The kitchenette
Chandelier over the bed. EXTREMELY necessary.
INCREDIBLY NECCESSARY bathroom
Huge walk-in closet and full-length mirror
Awesome view!
Two chandeliers. ABSOLUTELY necessary.
Sitting area. Not necessarily used much.

Oh yeah, we went to dinner too! We dined at where we held our wedding reception last year, Maggiano's! Great place to throw a kick-butt party! (i.e. open bar...)

They took our picture and gave us a sweet card!

And instead of even daring to eat the frozen cake we put in the freezer (which, I might add, we didn't wrap well and it smelled funny), I ordered a new one from our same baker! The cake didn't really look like this for the wedding, but it's a pretty anniversary cake!

Raspberry cream cheese...... yummmm

Our wedding cake one year ago. Gorgeous AND delicious!
(it was designed to match my dress)

Overall, it was a great, romantic getaway!

Wow awesome room!
We also chose not to save our cake top and got a new one made from the same baker.

I approve too! Do you live in Dallas? Is that where that hotel is? If so, I stayed there for a Bachelorette party once (I do not live in Dallas - I live in Fayetteville, Arkansas). Anywho - the hotel was AWESOME! We were in a really cool suite and we used their spa. I was pregnant at the time and had THE best pregnancy massage. It was awesome! The music was alternative music - which I like (but it was "calm" alternative music).

Well, happy anniversary! It looks like y'all had a GREAT time!

Wow Holy Shit!! I thought I have had some pretty awesome upgrades and stayed in some sweet rooms but man those are like dirty old motel rooms/hostels compared to this beauty. GORGEOUS!! I love it. Seriously that is probably bigger than my condo

Glad you guys had a great mini vacation and a great anniversary

If this is the way you celebrate your first anniversary, the ones to come will be worth the wait!

What a great anniversary trip! So glad you were able to celebrate in style. :)

PS - our boxer Dixie does the same thing everytime we open a suitcase. She actually will pull clothes out of the suitcase as we are putting them in. She hates when we travel!

Happy Anniversary! We are celebrating ours in just about 3 weeks! Time flies! We're also celebrating where we were engaged--Chicago! We didn't do a traditional wedding cake, so have no freezerburnt sweets to enjoy, so I'm having a bakery make a small one for us too! Great minds think alike:) Looks like a lovely time, thanks for sharing!

What a great anniversary! I can't believe that hotel room! It's truly amazing - and I'm uber jealous!!
My cat Vada ALWAYS jumps in suitcases when we're packing, but we bring her along when we head back home, because I can't leave her alone! It breaks my heart too much! (I'm such a loser!!)

Wow! It looks like you had an amazing time. I love all the "necessary" items in your room--I especially loved the pic of the closet with the full length mirror and you standing in your bathrobe shooting the picture. Yes, I'd probably be taking the pictures right after a shower or whatever too. I love the theme for your blog. I'm happy to be a new follower.
