Christmas Card Time!

Despite what you see from our serious faces, I LOVE CHRISTMAS CARDS!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy!

This is our "Asian Christmas Picture" from 2009. We do one each year. We call them this because we notice that Asian tourists don't like to smile in their photos. I find this one particularly funny because of the engagement portrait behind us with super smiley faces.

Greg doesn't understand the point of Christmas cards. He always says, "Why do I have to send a card to them? They should know I wish them a Merry Christmas!"

Haha.

Men.

....But I think he secretly likes Christmas cards. We sent out a bunch last year and I loved how many we got in return!

That was only a small portion!

Greg and I are going to do a picture with Dexter for this year's Christmas cards (since last year we used a wedding photo). Laugh all you want, but Dexter is my baby. Not to mention, it's going to be a simple photo taken by my sister (unless we can be successful with my self timer). Dexter even has a green and red mitten scarf to wear in the photo. He actually struts around in it - he knows he looks cute. I wish I had a picture!!

This year we're going to use Shutterfly to do our cards. They've got great prices and a huge selection of cards! I don't even know where to begin, they're all so purdy! I want to keep it simple with an somewhat amateur photo and a simple, yet elegant card.

I've picked out a few of my favorite designs (click on the photo to go to the product):

Which one do y'all like out of those?
There are so many to choose from!! It must say "Merry Christmas". None of that "Happy Holidays" mumbo jumbo!

I was also looking around on Shutterfly and couldn't help but notice the other cool Christmas gift ideas like the canvas wall art or a photo calendar. Fun!! Come to think of it... there are a few people on my Christmas gift list that would really enjoy something like that!

So, are you planning on sending out Christmas cards this year? What kind of cards? Do you love them as much as I do?!

OMG! I just had an idea! I could do a bloggy Christmas/Holiday card linkup! Everyone can link up their blogs with an image of their Christmas/Holiday cards! What do you guys think of that?

Nonetheless, I'll post a final product of the card!
Happy Christmas Card Time!

You wish you were this cool.

A few weeks ago, I got called by the local paper (when I say local, I mean 4th largest city in the USA's local newspaper) for an interview on my upcoming show. I was interviewed over the phone.

I got press, yo.

Here's the web version of the article.

And one of the moms posted the scanned image of the paper to facebook. (Yes, I friend my students' parents on facebook- they're great. Not the kids until they graduate.) From the SUNDAY PAPER.

One thing kind of bugs me, though.

I'm quoted incorrectly. I never said "the language isn't as stifled." I sound like someone who doesn't care for classical literature because it is "stifled". And I don't think that at all. Shakespeare is my favorite playwright and I adore the language. I chose to direct a modern adaptation of The Marriage of Figaro and I decided to amp up the volume! It is, after all, a farce and can be played at that extreme level.

Nonetheless, I'm still excited to have press! I'm also excited about this weekend's performances. The kids are incredible and I'm very happy about how the show turned out. Who doesn't like techno remixes of Mozart, confetti falling from the sky, and Lady Gaga?! Oh, and good acting. (hehe... that's funny to me because I always complain about the corporate musical leaving me hungry because it was visually wonderful to look at but I didn't care about the characters or the acting. Except Lion King.)

.... On a totally related note, I am sooooo looking forward to having the week off next week!

Remember me?

Howdy all!

So, I kind of took an unannounced, somewhat involuntary hiatus from blogging. There wasn't just enough hours in one day to do so. 14 hour work days are no stranger to me lately.

The last couple of weeks leading to opening night is absolutely ridiculous, and even my own husband and precious Dexter haven't seen much of me.

See how happy he is when I'm actually home?

Please bear with me.

Thankfully, opening night has come and gone. But we have one more weekend of performances and then I get a week off for Thanksgiving! Yippee!!

In the meantime, here's some eye candy.... a little teaser from my play, if you will.

I'll be getting back into the bloggin' swing o' things soon.
