I briefly mentioned before that I lost quite a few of my MAC makeup brushes recently when I brought them to school for a rehearsal, and I was in a pickle. I needed to replace them... STAT.
I had heard wonderful things about Sigma Makeup Brushes. A lot of beauty gurus use them and sing their praises, and they are affordably priced! In fact, when Sigma started, they actually numbered their brushes exactly the same way that MAC does, as they were considered exact dupes. Sigma has since then used their own numbering system and have developed a few more brushes that are different than MAC, but all of their classic brushes are still dupes for the MAC brushes.
This is why I needed them ASAP. I ordered the Complete Kit Without Brush Roll. It is normally $89 and includes 12 full-size brushes. They were running a special and I got them for $79, plus I was able to find a coupon code online somewhere and got 10% off (which ended up covering shipping costs). They also threw in a travel sized brush as a free gift, which reminds me of my lost MAC 217 (a brush I LOVE).
The brushes are very sturdy, came packed very well in pretty packaging, and it even included this really helpful pamphlet with how to use each brush. If you're pretty clueless what to do with some makeup brushes, this pamphlet is really helpful!
Since I've been using these for a few weeks now, I can definitely say that they are a good replacement for my lost MAC makeup brushes. I eventually plan to build my MAC brush collection back up... SLOWLY... but, I really do believe that Sigma has a wonderful product. None have shed too much and they really feel like the MAC brushes that I'm missing. The only thing is I wish I had a semi-fluffy eyeshadow brush that balances out all of the other eyeshadow brushes. My favorite brushes in this collection has got to be the Duo Fibre brush (which is exactly like my MAC 187, although I'm not missing that brush) and the Large Angled Contour Brush (which is identical to my MAC 168).
My next purchase is definitely going to be the Synthetic Kabuki Kit. I have read so many awesome things about these brushes.
I highly recommend this brand of brushes if you are looking for quality for a fantastic price. If you have never owned any "big girl" makeup brushes, you really ought to give some of these a try. When it comes down to it, they are the same price as some drugstore brushes with the quality of MAC.

I need some new fabulous makeup brushes!
There is something so satisfying about buying brushes. Weird but true, right? Hey I should know, I have about 50...
I know you are busy, but can you point me to a few of your makeup tutorial posts? I love these brushes! I have some brushes but sadly.. I am not at expert of when and wear to use them
You are the BEST, my dear. I have definitely heard of Sigma brushes so I'm glad that they are more affordable than MAC. I'm head over heels for my MAC brushes, though. I would probably only waver in extreme circumstances like yours haha
I admire people who use and love their make-up brushes. I worked in make-up and am just not a fan of using all the tools. I have 1 blush brush... Everything else I do with my hands [except dark eye make-up which I rarely do anyway]. Silly, I know.
Oh they do sound good! A good brush makes all of the difference!
Oh lord. I *NEED* these brushes. However I iz brokez. So I don't think this will be happening for awhile :-(
Love these! I have been using them non-stop since you got them for me. The big black one also reminds me of Myka. I know, I'm weird.
Great, just what I needed - another item to add to my Christmas wish list. haha!! Thanks for sharing your review, girly. I've never had "big girl" brushes so this would be a great start!
Those look great! I might have to get those. I need to build up my brushes
I agree with Jessica...every time a read a review about makeup its on my to get list! These brushes look awesome. I need new brushes so bad!
If I didn't have two little nuggets on the way I'd be ordering these sigma brushes right now!! Maybe I'll have to put them on my Christmas wish list. :-)
Wow, I can't believe all those brushes were $79. I have a blush brush from Lancome that was almost $50 by itself. Insane!! Part of me really wants to buy these, but then I remember that I know nothing about how to properly use makeup. Nor do I actually wear foundation, concealer, etc. Sooo probably not something I need haha.
I NEED new makeup brushes! For real!
I've been wanting sigma brushes for SO long now! I desperately need some new brushes. But me being a broke college student...definitely cant afford these cuz i have other things to pay for! :(
these look fabulous! but i am WAY too cheap to get them! =/
YESSSS. These are legit. I use them when I travel as a back up for my MAC brushes because my luggage is always disappearing.
definitely a fan! glad you're lovin' em.
Thanks for this post! I have some brushes from Sephora that I've used for a while but have been in the market for some new ones that wouldn't cost too much.
I totally need a cheat sheet when I get brushes! I'm a makeup idiot :-/
The Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Kit is on the top of my Christmas list... I love Sigma brushes!!

I need these!!! But thanks to you, I have no money left for makeup stuff!
I always love your makeup related posts. You need to have an app! =) ...question. I love make up, but I think part of the reason I keep mine so minimal is because I don't want clutter. How do you store your makeup and makeup tools? Post? =)
OOOOhhhhh yes!!! Post about makeup storage!!! Faboosh idea!!!!
I've heard a lot of great reviews of the Sigma brushes. When my budget allows, I absolutely plan to get some!!
