The most obvious thing you can do right away to nourish your skin, hair, and nails is to eat a proper diet and drink tons of water. Fresh fruits and vegetables are essential and trying to stay away from simple carbs and some dairy can also help. I know you've heard it a million times before, but I'll just say it to get it out of the way.
The second thing you can do is add some vitamin/mineral supplements to your routine. I have tried all of these so I can recommend them without reservation. However, I am not a doctor so... yeah, do your research and ask your doctor if you have any questions. And don't come after me if you start breaking into hives after taking any of these. (Sorry, gotta cover myself.)
Supplement Your Beauty With:
Biotin
Biotin is great for growing hair super fast. I can definitely attest to that. The only thing I have noticed with this is sometimes it can cause me to break out a little - not any big cysts, but just superficial whiteheads. It's weird. So if you take Biotin and notice a few changes in your skin, this might be the culprit. If you have perfect skin, this would probably be a great supplement for you.
I take Vitamin A specifically for my skin, but I take a Vitamin A&D supplement so I can also get an immunity boost from the Vitamin D. Retinols (including Retin A), Accutane, and other skin treatments have a high concentration of Vitamin A as one of their main ingredients, so it only makes sense to me to get an extra boost of Vitamin A. I am a long time sufferer of hormonal/cystic acne and I have noticed a great improvement in my skin from using the Vitamin A. I do also take other supplements, so it could be the combination of everything. I will say, though, that if I leave out my Vitamin A for a couple of days, I am more susceptible to develop a cyst. I say it's worth a try because there are also other benefits to taking Vitamin A.

Prenatal Vitamins
I have been taking prenatal vitamins ever since I found out I was pregnant. I have since continued to take them because I am nursing, but I really think I am going to continue to take them even after K is weaned. My nails are the strongest they have ever been in my life. And let me tell you, I have very brittle nails that are thin, have ridges, and break easily. I also used to get a lot of hang nails. No more after taking these. I think the benefits of taking prenatals are just so many that it is a good idea to take them, even while not pregnant or nursing. They are just perfect for women my age.

I need to take my vitamins more, my mom always told me prenatal vitamins are great for you..she still takes them now!
I have to work realllly hard to control my skin & acne. Though I've never used Biotin, so I will def need to try! Thanks for the tip
I have been taking prenatal vitamins for almost a year, even though I am no where near pregnant! I like to think it helps me and my hair and nails, even though I wear acrylic over my real nails and my hair is shedding like crazy! HAHA!
I have been taking prenatal vitamins for about a year and I LOVE them! I am not even trying to get pregnant but my gyno suggested them since they are so good for you. I take a vegan brand too so they are not filled with chemicals. I plan on taking them long after I am done having kids too! They are the best!
Thanks for this! I need to start taking vitamin a immediately!
I take Biotin already, and have definitely noticed how quickly my hair grows.. I already take Vit D for a deficiency, but I didn't know they made it with A. I'm buying that when my D runs out! Thanks for the tips as always girlfriend!
Hmm... I've always wondered if you can take prenatals without being preggers. Interesting. I'll have to get some! I take an adult gummy vitamin right now... I'm bad at taking pills! :/
Thanks for posting this. :)

I love Biotin! Definitely helps my hair and nails! I've heard all good things about prenatal vitamins! I heard it's great to take them when not even pregnant or even considering it and that studies show taking them will less likely lead to your children developing autism. Random information LOL
i take one a day vitamins every day and i seriously believe they help with my skin! i always thought about biotin came my hair grows super slow but I'm glad you posted about this cause i have such finicky skin so i'll probably try pre-natal vitamins first.
in other news I MISS YOU! hope you and little K are doing great!
Vitamins always remind me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory saying they are just the ingredients for expensive urine lol.
I've been taking biotin and don't notice it too much in my nails..I'm not preggers but am thinking of taking prenatals anyway...it helps your nails big time (Well..supposed to!)
Great advice!
This post inspired me to go get a huge glass of agua. I'm so bad at getting it down. thanks for the reminder!!!
I never thought about prenatal vitamins if not pregnant! But I definitely need more Vitamin A-- I'm just horrible at remembering to take vitamins! I need to get on it.
I have added these to my grocery list! I love a good supplement.
I feel you on the hormonal/cystic acne... I feel so icky when I get those sore, deep under the skin cysts.
Hope you're enjoying every second with Baby K!
I am so glad to see Silica getting some recognition. It is one of my favorites!
I'm planning on continuing my fish oil, calcium, and prenatal regime, even after I'm done with all the kiddo stuff, too. My nails, however, have not improved. I think I'm destined to have weak nails. John has nails like rocks, so maybe our kid will inherit them instead of mine.
Ive been taking biotin and love it. I also take it with hair, skin an nails stuff. My nails look amazing .
love your posts!!!!
