May Beauty Favorites
Ah, summer is upon us. I know we're already one week into June. I but don't you worry - I haven't forgotten about my May beauty favorites! I love doing this monthly feature.
1. Suave Touchable Finish Extra Hold Hairspray
I forgot how much I like this hairspray. I used it once before and went back to it recently. I really like how it's not super crunchy, but it does a fantastic job at taming flyaways and holding my style. I like an extra hold spray, so this really does the job. It also sprays a super fine mist. I don't mind the scent (I am pretty sensitive to hairspray scents) - in fact, I like the scent.
2. Dr. Jart Premium Beauty Balm
I have been using Beauty Balms for about a year or so, you know, before it was cool. Yeah, I just got all makeup hipster on you. See, I don't think they're the most amazing thing ever created for your face, but I like that some of them provide more coverage than tinted moisturizer, particularly this one. I've had this one for about a while, and the color and coverage is great for days I just wanna slap something on my face and go. It's a great summertime face makeup that includes a good amount of SPF.
3. Stila Dream in Full Color Palette
One of my BFFs, Anne, sent me this for my birthday. I have enjoyed playing with this palette and the endless combinations you can create with it. This palette is huge! We're talking the size of a dinner plate. The size doesn't make it travel friendly, or even makeup drawer friendly in my case, but it fits underneath the sink. I like the palette a lot, regardless. There 29 eyeshadows, 6 blushes, 1 bronzer, and a waterproof eyeliner that comes with it. It even comes with a little look book that gives you tips and ideas for color combos. I haven't really read it but thought that was a nice add in. Some of the shadows I might not use (like the shocking bright blue) and a few shades are not very pigmented, but other than that, I really have enjoyed this. It's running for $22 on the Stila website, so I consider that a steal for such an extensive palette!
4. Nars Orgasm Blush
I've been reaching for this blush a lot more lately, so it's on my favorites list this month! I love the coral-pink color, it's got the right amount of shimmer, and it is perfect for summer. Nars always hits it out of the park with their blushes. It looks great on a lot of skin tones, and of course, it is a cult favorite blush, so it is definitely worth having in the makeup drawer.
5. St. Ives Energizing Citrus Body Wash
I just adore this body wash for many reasons. First of all, the scent is so yummy. I love citrus-y scents. Again, perfect for summer. Also, this body wash is made with mostly natural ingredients, so no harsh chemicals. I don't like to spend a ton of money on body wash (the husband goes through it so incredibly fast - yes, we share) and this one fits my budget nicely! I actually have tried all of the St. Ives body washes from their Naturals line and this one is my favorite!
What have you been loving lately? Give me your recommendations!

Every time I read your blog about makeup, my wallet hates me! UGH! I really want to try some of that BB! Maybe it's a good thing that there is no Sephora here??
I love my Nars blush! Have not tried the Dr. Jart BB might have to get it!
How do you think that BB cream would be on already oily skin. I picked up the garnier one a few months ago, but I end up and oil slick by the middle of the day. :(
Ok I don't even know what beauty balm is haha! But then again my makeup routine consists of 3 things haha... Also this is so weird, I used that body wash over a year ago and It kept giving me little welts!?! But I do love it's smell...
Also that is the same Nars blush I use but I use the color torrid. I bought it the day I got married cause they did my makeup and have used it every day for 5 years and it's still not even close to running out, how long does it last haha!?
I wear the NARS orgasm all the time now. And I'm usually a sucker for all things St. Ives.
Love St. Ives Body Washes!! I need to hunt down a good face wash - seems like I've been breaking out randomly lately and I DON'T like it. Suggestions?!
I really want to try that BB ... I need to give Orgasm another try, the one time I did and I was not liking the way it looked on me (but now that I'm tanner I think it may be much better experience) :-)
Love the Nars blush!! It has always been one of my favorites!
C gave me that palate for Christmas! I love orgasm blush too :)
I love reading about your beauty picks! Thanks for sharing Meg. :)
I'm always on the look out for a good hairspray (I like Treseme) and I remember you mentioning the Suave brand a while ago maybe on Twitter-- thanks for blogging about it! And I love citris bodywashes that WAKE you up in the morning!! I'll have to try it out :-)
I love Nars blush! One of my faves! My favorite beauty item right now is my Maybelline Illegal Length mascara! It does wonders for my eyelashes!
That Suave hairspray is what I am currently using and I love it too! And you are right, the scent is actually kinda nice compared to some others!
I've heard about that Nars blush over and over but have yet to try it. Maybe it's time! I love citrus scents too so I might go pick up that bodywash!
I've been wanting to try a beauty balm, so I'm glad you gave a recommendation for one. And NARS Orgasm...absolute favorite blush!!
Love when you post beauty favorites!
lurve that blush! and i'm hoping the bb works for me too!
love your posts---they make me laugh :) you were a BB cream pioneer, girl!
I really like Suave hairsprays!! :-)
I'm glad you've had fun with the palette. It is ridiculously big, and I agree it doesn't travel well. I have definitely found that I lean toward certain color sets. I like some of the colors enough that I'll probably get them on their own when I run through them in the palette. I didn't have great luck with the liner - it smudges throughout the day for me. I still need to try a beauty balm...
