When we start to near the end of summer, I know we start to get a little stir crazy. The weather gets so hot and we are over the splash pads and swimming pools. Also, some indoor attractions can get a little pricy, which leaves us with very few options.
The best summertime solution came at the perfect time – the LEGO® Americana Roadshow at Baybrook Mall! It is a great family event that showcases famous American landmarks made entirely out of LEGOs! It’s indoor, and best of all it’s free! We live a mere 10 minutes away, which is another added bonus. I’ve been going to Baybrook Mall for as long as I can remember (I even worked there in college!), and it’s so fun to see how much the mall has grown – from the amazing stores and restaurants that have come in, to the great events like this LEGO® one.
We had the opportunity to check it out on opening day, and the girls had a blast. I really think kids of all ages will enjoy it, because there were a wide variety of kids in attendance, and all seemed really engaged. My two girls (4.5 and 2) had a blast. We were totally blown away at the quality of the LEGO® sculptures.
Let’s take a little tour around Baybrook Mall.
We’ve got the Capitol building
The Lincoln Memorial
The Jefferson Memorial
The Liberty Bell (this is one you could get up and touch – the girls really liked that!)
The Old North Church (Greg enjoyed a piece of Boston down here)
The Statue of Liberty (this one was my favorite!)
The Washington Monument and the White House
And in addition to these great replicas, there are other fun displays built my Master Builders to engage the kids. The girls really loved these because they could find princesses, superheroes, and other fun characters.
The LEGO® Americana Roadshow also includes an interactive exhibit where kids can build their own LEGO® monuments, race cars (complete with a race ramp!), and participate in a make and take activity.
I put together this little video that will convince you to go (if you aren’t already!).
Not only does Baybrook Mall and LEGO® put on this amazing event, they are also having a showing of the LEGO Movie on August 9, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., out on the green area of the outdoor portion of the mall. They will also be giving away mini Capitol Buildings to attendees (while supplies last)! I have a feeling we’re going to attend this event, too.
The LEGO® Americana Roadshow runs now until August 14 at Baybrook Mall, so make sure you check if out if you’re in the Houston area!
Before you go, make sure you enter the sweepstakes! The prize for the contest is a $100 LEGO® gift card. There are three ways to enter:
- Instagram. To enter, take a photo of the exhibit at the mall and include the hashtag #LEGOAmericana.
- RSVP to the event using this online form.
- Visit the exhibit at Baybrook Mall
- You can also enter by mail. See official rules for details.
I definitely think we’ll be taking a trip back before the show packs up and goes to the next city on its tour. What a fun way to spend the last days of summer!
Visit the Baybrook Mall website for more information about the LEGO® Roadshow.
