Updated February 1, 2021
If this past year has taught us anything, it was that life can change in an instant. The world as we know it can turn upside down within a matter of days. I don’t think anything could have prepared us for what was in store.
This year has also taught us how precious and important our loved ones are. It has reminded us how we would give anything to keep them safe and healthy. Some families were lucky and were able to adapt their lives to the pandemic, and others were not. It is a sobering reality that many had to face and many will continue to face until this is over.
The struggles we faced this past year have been miniscule in comparison to others. We conquered distance learning and juggling a baby while trying to keep my own business afloat. My husband began working from home 100% of the time and we’ve managed to stay out of his hair (mostly). Everyone stayed healthy. There have been lots of emotional ups and downs, but we’re working hard to work through it and come out stronger. Ultimately, we are incredibly thankful for what we have and for each other.
If you’re one of the lucky families like we have been, I hope a year like this was a wake up call to make sure you have a plan in place for your future.

With my husband’s longtime experience in the insurance industry, this is a conversation we are comfortable having. We have almost all of our possessions insured – from our house to my wedding ring. We don’t shy away from preparing for the worst.
I realized that one thing we should revisit was our life insurance policies. We have them, but will the coverage truly help sustain our families if something were to happen to either of us?
If we can talk about all the material possessions we can insure, we need to include the most important thing – protecting our family’s future.
Protecting Our Family’s Future
I know this isn’t exactly the most pleasant conversation, but we need to talk about life insurance. Have you thought much about your life insurance coverage? Is your or your partner’s policy provided by your employer enough?

How about a few eye-opening statistics?
- 40% of Americans don’t have life insurance (source: LIMRA 2019 Insurance Barometer Survey)
- Only 7% of people who have life insurance have the right amount. (source: National Bureau of Economic Research, 1999)
- 1 in 17 children will experience the death of a parent by age 18 (source: JAG Institute 2020)
Questions started swirling in my head after seeing these statistics and when I was introduced to the new life insurance brand called Dayforward. I haven’t thought much about our policies until I realized what I was missing out on. I really think this is so important to chat about and to explore what kinds of options you have.
What is Dayforward?
Dayforward is a completely new type of life insurance that protects your family by protecting your income until your children are grown up. As a mom of 3 young children, this is the perfect way to protect them if anything were to happen to me or my husband.

Traditional life insurance is paid out in a lump sum, and it’s easy for that money to be mismanaged or spent within the first few years. Dayforward is a new type of life insurance that provides a steady stream of income until your children grow up.

How Does it Work?
If you pass away, Dayforward will continue to send your family your twice-a-month paychecks until your kids are grown up, like they depend on today,
For example, if your twice-a-month paychecks were $2,000 right now, your family would continue to receive that, plus $10,000 for funeral expenses. If you’re self-employed or a freelancer like me, your policy will be based on the average amount you bring in per month. This brings so much peace of mind.
You can even customize your policy to last until when you believe your youngest child will be financially independent. You can choose from when they turn 18, 21, or even 26.
I love that Dayforward is very straightforward, easy to understand, and meets the needs of young families.
How Do You Get Coverage?
Traditional life insurance can take months to get. With Dayforward, you can sign up online and get coverage within minutes. They also have transparent pricing.
Adjusts to Your Life Changes
Not only do I like how straightforward Dayforward’s coverage is, but I love how you can make adjustments to your policy based on your own life changes.
If you have another child or your income changes, your policy can change with you. Simple enough, right?
This Generation’s Life Insurance

The purpose of life insurance is to give your family financial security if you were to pass away. Dayforward makes that process easier and better than before. It’s life insurance made for this generation.

While we never want the unimaginable to be a reality, it’s so important to have the conversation about the plans for your family’s future.
