Happy Friday! We made it to the end of the first week of school! We did it! Give yourselves a bit pat on the back.
I don’t think I’ve actually addressed it here on my blog, but I wanted to say I can’t thank you all enough for your encouragement and sweet comments and congratulations on my “A Season of Change” post. I put my heart out there on how much I have struggled the past couple of years since becoming a mother and figuring out how to balance that with a career I love. After a few weeks of training, I began my first week of actual part-time teaching.
I have to admit that I was a bit nervous starting to teach a completely new grade level. I’ve got me some 6th graders! Quite a change from my big kids at the high school. But after my first week, I already adore them! It’s a lot like teaching freshmen, but with far more energy. (So far, at least!)
I can’t even begin to explain to you how much less stressed I’ve felt. It’s amazing to wake up to the sound of my babies and not the alarm clock. The kids have been sleeping a little later, too, so that’s a huge win!
My school day is every day from 12:00-4:00. My classes are 12:30-2:55 and a last period conference. My new school is a beautiful campus with the latest technology and an absolutely amazing state-of-the-art 600-seat proscenium theatre. I am so excited for my students to be able to experience an actual theatre at such a young age! The staff and administration are so supportive and huge arts advocates. I still can’t believe I was able to walk into something like this. I smell another Photo an Hour post soon… I’m thinking a September edition!
I have a dang good feeling about this year. It’s going to be awesome.
One last thing before I go — I started an email list for my blog! Sometimes it’s hard to reach everyone when a new post comes out, especially if you’re a Facebook fan. If you sign up for my email list, you will get one email a week, on Friday mornings, with the week’s worth of posts in it. That way you are not getting an email each time a post is up, to save some room in your inbox. In other words, no spamming. If it becomes annoying, you can unsubscribe, and you definitely won’t hurt my feelings. I just know a lot of you guys don’t really use Feedly or Bloglovin‘ and sometimes miss my posts. You can sign up by clicking here or in the box on my sidebar/footer.
