How to Have the Perfect At-Home Pedicure

I enjoy a pedicure in the salon as much as the next person, but I honestly don’t have the time or the money to make it a continual habit. I have been giving myself manicures and pedicures at home for years and while sometimes I miss the massages at the salon, I don’t miss the price tag. I actually prefer to paint my own nails now that I’ve found the way to do the perfect at-home manicures and pedicures.
Here’s what I do:
Exfoliation – I like to take a good sugar scrub and make sure my feet are scrubbed in the shower before my pedicure. It gets my skin prepped and starts feeling soft.
Amopé Pedi Perfect Wet & Dry – Now here’s where your at-home pedicure reaches the next level. This foot file is amazing and will make your feet feel even softer than what they do during a professional pedicure. It can be used wet or dry (it’s also rechargeable, so no hunting down batteries!), and gets those pesky dry spots on your heels. I swear by it, especially for summertime!
Cut Nails & Trim Cuticles – After I file my feet with the Amopé, I trim my nails and cuticles.
File & Buff – Next I file, and buff my nails. Buffing is essential to getting the nail polish to stick to the nails!
Base Coat – Using a base coat really helps the polish stick to it and your nails much longer. Sometimes I’ll skip this step, but I always get a longer pedicure when I don’t.
Paint – When I paint, I like to make sure that I am painting in thin coats. Here is a great reference on how to paint your nails evenly, but you will basically start at the base of the nail in the center and move down then outward.
Top Coat – Using the right top coat makes a huge difference in the longevity of your pedicure and how quickly it will set. I hate having to walk around all day worried about my polish smudging, so I rely on a good quick dry top coat.
Moisturizer – After the top coat has set, finishing up with a moisturizer helps keep those feet soft!
I’m sure most of you have a lot of these items in your collection already, so go pick up the Amopé Pedi Perfect Wet & Dry file and take your at-home pedicure to the next level. Here’s to soft, sandal ready feet this summer!
I keep seeing the Amopé, but haven’t picked it up yet. I think you have just convinced me 🙂 I need my feet looking their best for summer 🙂
