Beauty is fun, and if you teach them this concept (with some parameters), getting excited about lip glosses and body sprays isn’t hurting anyone.

I don’t love the idea of telling kids (or grown ups!) how they should express themselves with makeup and skincare. I’ve always let my girls play with it and wear it (with exceptions, because a ten year old doesn’t need retinol). Of course I say there are instances in life where it’s typical to wear no makeup or less makeup.

I talk about makeup and skincare being a fun thing to do and not something to “look prettier.” I think by restricting beauty products and saying “you don’t need makeup/skincare, you’re already beautiful” inadvertently tells them that it’s used to look “better.” I like to reframe it as “beauty products are fun but we are amazing with and without it.”

With all that being said, Caroline asked for Sephora gift cards for her birthday and this is her redeeming her gifts. 😂 If Sephora were around when I was ten, I would’ve begged to go, too. (You should’ve seen me in the MAC store back in the day.)

This was our second stay at the resort! We live ten minutes away and celebrated our youngest two kids’ birthdays a few weeks ago. Now that we’ve been twice, I feel like I have a lot to share for a thorough review. (I’m planning on doing a longer YT video soon - stay tuned!)

✨A few highlights worth noting:
🐺 There are 532 family-friendly suites (with so many configurations and accommodating to large families).
🐺 The water park is an impressive 92,000 square feet with water attractions for all ages!
🐺 There are thrill slides (The Texas Twirler is the most insane water slide I’ve been on!), smaller slides for younger kids, a toddler area, splash pad, obstacle courses, and a wave pool.
🐺The indoor adventure park is 61,000 square feet with so many different activities, eateries, and retail offerings. I love how all of this is indoor, because it gets HOT and rainy here!
🐺 There is a ropes course with zip lines, mini golf, bowling, an arcade, and more!
🐺 MagiQuest is a big deal, which is a fun interactive game that spans throughout the resort.
🐺 There are plenty of free activities always going on around the resort, from dance parties, night shows, and character interactions.

“Why do I feel so… different?” is something I ask myself all the time since turning 40. Little did I know, I’ve been experiencing perimenopause systems. Some of my symptoms have been trouble getting to sleep, anxiety before my period, heavier/painful periods, feeling very hot at night, and so much brain fog. Luckily, I got connected with @midihealth, which is a virtual care clinic that specializes in perimenopause and menopause. I have had the most amazing experience with my clinician so far, and can’t wait to update how I’m feeling after I’ve started my treatment plan.

Many OBGYNs aren’t well versed in perimenopause care, so @midihealth is the perfect addition to my overall healthcare. I highly recommend checking them out if you suspect you may be experiencing symptoms related to perimenopause or menopause. Bonus: they accept most major insurance plans!

New skincare gadget alert! @solawave just launched the Eye Recovery Pro mask, and this is for those who really want to target the eye area! It combines Red, Deep Red, Near-Infrared, and Amber lights to soften fine lines and depuff. I’m especially interested in the Amber light to improve skin tone (seems promising for dark circles!), which isn’t in a lot of other LED masks. This 3-minute treatment is the perfect morning wake up! I’ve only been using it for a short time and notice less puffiness! Can’t wait to see what goodness this gives my eye area after continued use.

It’s a perfect show to bring the teens to with so many important messages. Kennedy loved it! She made me LOL leaving the theatre because she said “OMG I had so much second hand embarrassment for him!” 😂

As a former theatre teacher, I will always cherish the moments I get to share live theatre with my kids. 🎭
