Baby O2 FAQ

I am overwhelmed by the support, encouragement, and love we’ve received over the past week since I announced my pregnancy. You all are amazing and I thank you so much for your sweet comments and congratulations! I have had an influx of questions, or at least I would like to think I have. Therefore, I am going to do a FAQ post of questions I may or may not have received. You’re catching me at the end of the first trimester, so there is quite a bit of catching up for you all to do.

How many weeks are you? Currently as you are reading this post, I am 13 weeks and 4 days.

When is your due date? August 22, 2014

Do you want a boy or a girl? I want a baby.

Do you think it’s a boy or a girl? I am not really sure. Overall I have boy vibes but that’s only because I feel a tad different this time.

When do you find out if it’s a boy or a girl? My guess is in another month. Haven’t made that appointment yet.

What are your names? We don’t really know at this point. We have a couple that we like but aren’t dead set just yet. However, his/her name won’t be announced on the blog/social media until he/she is born. So yeah, you have a while to wait.

How are you feeling? The first trimester has been absolutely exhausting. I needed a nap every single day. I have even fallen asleep on the floor with Kennedy crawling all over me. It’s that bad. Perhaps also having a 2-year-old didn’t help with this. I never got nauseated when pregnant with Kennedy (aside from when I traveled on an airplane), but this time I’ve gotten afternoon and evening sickness. No puking, thank goodness, but just lots of nausea and aversion to eating in general. Just like when I was pregnant with Kennedy, I did puke on the airplane when traveling back from Boston last week. I don’t normally suffer from air sickness, so it’s totally a pregnancy thing. Oh, and did I mention I’ve been exhausted? That also explains the lack of blog posts. I don’t even have the energy to open up my computer in the evenings.

Does Kennedy know? I don’t think she quite understands what’s going on. She’ll probably catch on the bigger I get.

Body changes different this time? Okay, nobody has asked me this, but I am going to volunteer that I feel huge already. Yes, I am still wearing my normal pre-pregnancy clothes, although some are pretty tight, but I swear I’ve gained close to 10 pounds at only 14 weeks. We’re not doing so hot. As vain as this sounds, I am very scared of gaining way too much weight this pregnancy. I gained over 50 pounds with Kennedy and I feel like I’m right on track to get there again. Being early pregnant during the holidays doesn’t really help since we tend to over eat and fall off the wagon to begin with. Plus I’ve been exhausted and I haven’t felt motivated to work out but just a few times. I really hope that the second trimester will give me more energy and motivation. I’ve been eating pretty well lately and I plan to continue to fuel my body with things that are good for me and my baby and not use this pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever I want (except when I really want to use that excuse…ha).

Are you happy? No, I am pissed off beyond belief. (Can you tell I think this is the stupidest question ever?)

And just because a blog post isn’t a blog post without some sort of picture or overly-filtered selfie, here’s an awkward one of me yesterday. Hardly any makeup and lookin’ a little tired. Shocker.

See, bigger faster! Okay, part of that is me putting my hand like that. Otherwise it looks like I’ve drank a few too many beers and have a beer belly. I’ve definitely hit the “is she fat or is she pregnant?” stage, so it’s been a relief to go public.

  1. “Fat or pregnant stage” made me LOL. You’re not being vain. Weight is something that’s always on a woman’s mind, pregnant or not. [non-alcoholic] cheers to good health!

Also, I heard of a non-alcoholic wine called Fre. I’d look into it!

  2. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is so exciting. I can’t wait to follow along over the next several months. I am secretly hoping you have another girl so Kennedy can have a sister to play dress up with…coming from a mom with two girls!! 😉

  6. You are adorable, mama! I had the exact same afternoon/evening nausea with Layla. It was awful, but I was grateful that I at least got through the school day:)
