I’ve hit the second trimester! I wish I could tell you that it meant that butterflies and rainbows automatically appeared once this milestone hit, but I’m afraid I’m feeling much of the same.
EXHAUSTED.
Much evidenced by this week’s bump selfie. Nothing beats a bare-bellied sweatpants-wearing selfie in the Target dressing room. Keeping it klassy.
I mean, might as well take my shirt off for y’all before it gets plain weird to do so. Wait, posing in your sports bra and sweat pants in a Target dressing room is weird?
I’ve also got no perfectly poised and cute Pinterest-y bump pictures for you. No chalkboard backgrounds or “baby is the size of” captions. I’ve decided I’m just going to take a selfie, and maybe I’ll have fun with the selfies. You never know where the selfie may take place. And yes, it’ll be a selfie on my phone because Greg is the worst picture taker known to mankind.
So, fourteen weeks, eh?
I’ve had a headache every single day for the last seven days. Which, with combined with exhaustion, has still given me zero energy to blog. Or to do much of anything else, for that matter, except for take afternoon naps and catch up on my favorite Bravo shows.
I have so many ideas swimming around in my head, and so many cool beauty products to share with you, but I am just unmotivated. I really hope that energy returns stat.
Instead, you get a 14 week update. I might also mention that I’m not planning on doing those bump survey things that have somehow gotten popular on blogs because no, I am not feeling labor signs and obviously I have told everyone and their dog because it’s all over social media.
So how about the weird/random moments of the week?
- I have really been into eating really healthy salads for lunch. I pack them with spinach, quinoa, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and feta and top it with a balsamic vinaigrette. They fill me up and keep me satisfied all afternoon. I have been really planning ahead the last two weeks to eat right, especially while at school during the day. I’ve felt a slight difference in energy. But I’m still exhausted (in case you forgot).
- I started eating said salad yesterday and immediately felt nauseated. So what did I do? Had Gardettos for lunch. #cleaneating
- I swear I already feel the baby moving. Am I crazy? I honestly think I’ve been feeling it for the past week or two. Is this even possible? Or is my body mutating? Having a baby is somewhat like mutating, so I am thinking this is possible.
- I’ve told a lot of my students but not all of them. I think with some classes I’m just not going to say anything and see how big I can get before anyone asks. And then when they ask, I can get all offended because they’re “calling me fat.” Yes, this can be funny.
- I’m kind of a little bit worried about work for next year. Oh, did I mention my due date is the Friday before the first day of school next year? Yeah, awesome timing. But hey, at least I get like a 5 month summer. I call that winning.
Well, this turned into quite an unconventional bump update. I dig it.
Yee haw, 14 weeks!

Thank you!!! I appreciate it! Oh yeah, lots of klassy coming your way!!!

Ok I could have written this! I was eating so great and small portions for the entire first trimester then bam… This second trimester has been hell! Weird! I’m exhausted and nauseous and grouchy haha! I was never like that with my boys but there is hope! I am 21 weeks and somehow in the last 4 days I feel way way better?? Maybe it’s over? My main problem is that I crave things like cheeseburgers and fries and bread and grilled cheese haha! Anyway you look great and yes the second baby pops out way faster but it’s just cause ur a baby making pro now 🙂
Meg O. says
Oh no…. I hope this doesn’t mean there is no hope for me!!! I want my energy back! I want to be able to just come home in the afternoon and not have to take an hour nap! Carbs will also be the death of me! And Girl Scout cookies…. haha
Anne says
Now, I’ll really be impressed if you figure out how to do a car selfie of your baby bump.
If you ever need me to write a post for you, I’ll totally do it. But I’ll probably do it as your happily plump friend posting a not clean recipe. I have a lemon bar recipe that is to-do-for.
Meg O. says
Challenge accepted!
Oh and I am totally down for a guest post… lemon bars sound amazing!!!!

well big props to you as a mom, usually baby #2 doesn’t even get bumpdates! So you’re on fire!!
My mom had this lovely yellow pregnancy journal that she filled out practically daily with my brother… the details! the amazing first and all that jazz… me? I’m at the end of the yellow journal, and it didn’t last too long after I was born.
I really hope you don’t tell some students, and you can teach them a lesson about how you NEVER ask if someone is pregnant unless they’re told! I’m sure the kids knowing in some classes will eventually spread to most students? or is your school ginormous?
Meg O. says
Haha thank you! I am planning on having a lot of fun with these updates because… well, let’s face it, I’ve been there and done that before so getting heartburn isn’t cute and a bonding experience anymore. Haha. Oh and that is too funny about your mom’s journal. I am going to wait and see how big before someone says something about my bump. Right now I’m just pudgy so I can’t wait to pop. My school is pretty big – like I have up to 30 kids in 6 different classes and I would say about half of my kids know (the ones that I work with after school and have known for a few years).
Becca @ Becoming Adorrable says
I think the baby was just trying to tell you that you needed carbs. Totally fair. 🙂
Meg O. says
TOTALLY.

you look AMAZING! So excited for you! and I love that you’re not doing the usual bump survey – you did the same randoms moments with K and I stole that same idea when I was pregnant! 😉
Meg O. says
Thank you!!!! Yes, I love the random updates. It’s fun and I really enjoy going back and looking at those posts from when I was pregnant with Kennedy. I liked your updates with V, too!!
Chrissy says
You crack me up! I like that you are going to wait to see if some of your students say anything! 🙂 It will be school gossip!
Meg O. says
Haha thank you!!! I think it will be funny to see how big I can get before they notice. Right now I just look a little pudgy so I totally can’t wait to ‘pop’!

Have so much fun with those selfies….that is MY KIND of updates!! I didn’t have the pleasure of Pinterest, IG or blogging when I was preggers with my girls…so, um, I pretty much have ZERO selfie preggo pics…okay maybe a few, but i will never show them!! You still look tiny…and I mean that!!
Meg O. says
I am TOTALLY going to have fun with the selfies. I ain’t got time for all that pinterest-y type of stuff!! And thank you! I don’t feel tiny 🙂
shelley says
I love it! You’re still cute and little. I felt this baby move at 15 weeks so it might.be possible you felt yours already. Maybe it’s a strong boy like this one :).
Meg O. says
Aww thank you! Maybe it is a strong boy! Who knows at this point!!!! haha
Kellee says
What a cute bump!!!!
Meg O. says
Why thank you!!
Whitney says
I’m so excited that I get to follow along for this pregnancy, since you had K right before I started following your blog! I’m also exhausted and having headaches every day, but I have no idea why. (no babies in this belly!)
Jodi says
Ok seriously you look great! I’m zero weeks pregnant and my belly in the same size! No kidding either!!!!!
Darby Hawley says
Oh I wish had been able to read this before last night. You look so great Meg! I have heard that the second time around you can feel the baby earlier. Obviously I don’t have any personal experience with this, but that is what I’ve heard. I just love that precious bump of yours 🙂 I hope you start getting your energy back soon! And, a 5 month summer? definitely a win!
Myra says
You are too cute! And you look super fab in those sweats & sports bra. Super fab!
