Last weekend we celebrated Caroline’s second birthday! We went with a fiesta theme for her party. Over the years, I have decided that I like things that are easy to pull off. A fiesta is just that. Lots of bright colors, get as tacky as you want, and you’ve nailed it.
On the morning of the party, my mother-in-law and I went out to take a few pictures so we knew we had some great shots of us and didn’t have to worry about it at the party. Here are some of my favorites!
Now let’s get to the party. I went crazy but it was so easy to do, and I found everything I needed on Shindigz.
I wanted the cake to be simple yet festive, so I got it done at HEB. They always do a great job!
These cactus balloons were my favorite find. Aren’t they fun? I just love how crazy our dining room looked!
I loved creating this festive wall with tissue festooning. Made a really pretty backdrop to the room. I took strips of the festooning and taped with painter’s tape to the top of our china cabinet, and then set tissue poms on top.
After filling the pinata with candy and goodies, I set it in the entryway as a decoration, along with the stick, sombrero, and tissue poms.
I love these plastic flag banners! They’re so sturdy and they really made the house look festive. I bought 6 of them and put them all around the house.
We even had personalized water bottle labels! Haha! They are actually really cheap and we got some fun comments on them, so it was worth it!
As far as food goes, we set up a nacho/taco bar. Another reason why a fiesta theme is so easy. The food is easy! The nacho/taco bar had queso, grilled chicken, guacamole, black beans, and jalapenos. We hit up Chuy’s for some creamy jalapeno and salsa fresca, and hit up HEB for some fresh flour tortillas. I also made a homemade warm bean dip, a street corn salad, cut up a watermelon, and set out Greg’s favorite taquitos. I always roll my eyes when he wants to buy taquitos for parties, but it went well with the theme and they disappeared.
I don’t have a ton of pictures during the party, but I will leave you with these. It was a great time and we really enjoyed celebrating with our family and friends. I’ve linked everything about the party at the bottom!
