Ah, the summer. I just love the summer, especially when it comes to beauty. To me, summer beauty is bright colors, simplified routines, sweatproof and easy to use products. You may have seen my post and video on my Summer Beauty Essentials, so when the opportunity came up to feature Walgreens, I felt like this was the perfect companion to that post. Today I’m going to share with you my drugstore summer beauty essentials! Who doesn’t love wallet-friendly, high quality beauty products? I know I am a sucker. I’ve found some really awesome things that not only minimize time on my routine, are long-wearing, and are on-trend with colors. Get excited!

If you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time, you know that Walgreens is my go-to for drugstore beauty. I always find the best selection and deals. I am a sucker for that monthly coupon book and those bright yellow promotion stickers on the beauty aisle!

Drugstore Summer Beauty Essentials #WalgreensBeauty #CollectiveBias #shop

Sometimes I feel like it’s a very dangerous thing that the beauty aisle is right there near the front of the door. Or a very convenient thing, depending on how you look at it.  I can spend a really long time perusing and milling over which products to get. It can sometimes be extremely hard to limit myself! It’s just tough when you’ve got an amazing selection to choose from, and so many different promotions going on. For today’s purposes, I did limit myself, but I know I will be back in July for more…. (how predictable of me)

Now, let’s get down to the nitty gritty of it – the products that I picked up and why I would call them essentials! Oh, and hey… do you notice anything different about the quality of my videos? Mama got a new camera! I am still learning and playing around with it, but I couldn’t wait to use it! Don’t forget to subscribe to me on YouTube if you are interested in seeing more of my face on my new camera! I highly suggest you watch the video if you want to see how I saved $11.65 on my purchase! There’s a specific way I shop for my makeup at Walgreens and I end up saving so much every time! (But that’s in the video, so watch it.)

Produtcts Mentioned:

  1. Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow ‘Bad to the Bronze’
  2. Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil ‘Black Point’
  3. Maybelline Volum’ Express Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara (Waterproof) ‘Black’
  4. Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain ‘Cannes Crush’
  5. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss ‘Pango Peach’
  6. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color ‘Violet Voltage’

And here are some close-ups of some swatches I photographed. Can’t get enough of all of these products!

Oh, and before I go, Walgreens is having a Gift With Purchase offer which runs between June 29 through August 30 and allows you to get a coupon by texting a code or visiting http://www.walgreens.com/topic/promotion/beautydeals.jsp for a FREE travel-size make-up brush set. It’s your gift with any $20 beauty and personal care purchase (excluding baby category). Not to mention, there are a lot of deals going on to begin with! Win, win!

What drugstore products are you loving this summer?

I’m sorry but I just don’t get into makeup. The majority of the days I’m a natural gal and I rarely put on more than eye liner and mascara when I’m getting dolled up. I always go to the drug store for sunscreen and other such items though. Sunscreen is something I should have had yesterday…

Haha!! You will LOVE the color tattoo, liner (you can find the Jordana stuff over near the beauty check out area hidden…it’s like the beauty secret of Walgreens haha), and polish! I seriously always find THE BEST deals there. The coupon books are by the front door and the baskets. Some months are better than others for beauty, but I usually find that it’s paired with another sale that’s going on (like the BOGO half off stuff). And I’m glad you like my face in HD! I am so happy to finally have something that makes filming not only better to watch, but SO MUCH EASIER to film. You should have seen my previous setup. It was basically a disaster and took 20 minutes just to set up so I could see myself.

I haven’t tried out that mascara yet, but it looks amazing! I’m so glad you liked the Color Tattoo. I picked some up when I was at Walgreens yesterday but wasn’t sure if it was one of those formulas that would crease everywhere or just rub off quickly. Love your summer look too! #client

Thank you!!! The mascara is seriously awesome! I love the bristly brush on it. And I seriously can’t believe that I’ve waited this long to add some more Maybelline Color Tattoo into my collection. I have a matte taupe one I sometimes use to fill in my brows, but this bronze one is just gorgeous! They seriously don’t go anywhere. Not to mention I got that sucker for only $3.50 or something crazy like that with the coupon book plus the BOGO half off Maybelline eye products!

This RV resort I’ve tagged in the location is really cute with a lot of amenities and fun things to do! It’s our second year staying there during spring break. Wish the weather wasn’t so unusually cold, but I’m glad we had a cabin with a heater, lol.

Here’s my current AM skincare routine! I switch Here’s my current AM skincare routine! I switch up the products from time to time but it’s usually some variation of this:

1️⃣ Cleanse with water only and pat dry with towel. I am rinsing off the previous night’s skincare and I don’t find it necessary to use a cleanser. It can be too stripping.

2️⃣ Apply serums. I like to use a vitamin C serum (currently trying this Vanicream one - jury is still out) for some antioxidant benefits. Read up on the benefits on vitamin C for skin, there are lots! Then I use a hyaluronic acid serum for extra hydration.

3️⃣ Moisturizer. I swear this one is so amazing under makeup- never pills on me! It’s so lightweight yet incredibly hydrating. I’ll never stop screaming about it 🤷🏼‍♀️

4️⃣ ONE drop of facial oil under eyes and on lips. Any more than one drop is a mess under makeup. The one drop specifically helps me prep the under eye area for concealer. It’s a game-changing move if you struggle with the under eye area! I also like it on the lips to prep for lip products.

5️⃣ SPF! A step I’ll never ever ever skip. The most effective anti-aging skincare is honestly sunscreen. You want to make sure you’re using enough to ensure proper protection. A good rule of thumb is 2 fingers’ length, which equals to about a 1/4 tsp. This is for face and neck. Use more for chest and shoulders! My holy grail is this Korean sunscreen (you can find on Amazon). So lightweight and amazing consistency- I find it to play so well under makeup too!

Here’s 17 minutes of footage condensed into 60 seconds. 💁🏼‍♀️ If you’d like me to go live and just do makeup from start to finish - let me know! But for today’s video purposes, I’m sharing the process of my current favorite makeup look. And in true Meg fashion, this is about half high end, half drugstore.

I’ve been gravitating towards really simple eye looks with smudged liner and a really shiny cheek. Of course the contoured lip will always be a favorite.

Here’s my current PM skincare routine! Because “…sO mAnY oF yOu HaVe bEeN aSkInG”

I change things up every now and then but it almost always is some sort of variation of this:

I double cleanse first. I start with a cleansing balm and then I follow up with my favorite CeraVe cleanser in the shower. And before you come for me, I think shower cleansing is literally superior - but you HAVE to make sure you’re turning the water temperature down. Don’t burn your face off. I’m a night showerer. It just works.

I have been getting a few spots of irritated/dry skin, there’s a patch on my eyelid (so convenient) and near my clavicle. I’ve been using this honey eczema therapy cream on those spots first, then following up with my beloved CeraVe ointment to lock it in and also create a barrier so my tretinoin will not irritate those spots.

After that, I go in with my hydrating serums - snail mucin and hyaluronic acid.

Next comes my tretinoin prescription. I get mine through Agency. My formula also has added niacinimide, tranexamic acid, and dexpanthenol.

Then we moisturize with the GOAT of drugstore moisturizers.

Lastly, I slather myself in my favorite facial oil. It’s just another added layer of hydration and truly feels amazing on the skin.

NOTE: I do not get directly into bed all glazed up. I let this all sink in for a little while so this doesn’t end up all over my pillow. I also usually wear my hair up with some baby claw clips to sleep - it’s a gentle hair style that somewhat preserves my hairstyle but also gets my hair away from my face.

ANOTHER NOTE: YES, I do skincare every freaking night. Some nights I will skip tretinoin and do all hydrating products and put a thin layer of CeraVe ointment on top.

Everything is 🔗 on my LTK!
