When we found out I was pregnant, one of our first thoughts was… “well, we need to get all new stuff!” We had some furniture and a few baby items left from our girls, but had thrown out a lot of items because they were either old or expired. Or were for girls. (Not that there’s anything wrong with boys wearing pink!)
This pregnancy has felt totally different and new because of a lot of things. One thing in particular is how many new and genius baby items that have come out since I last had a baby. I am truly blown away by the technology and innovation in a lot of these items, and I am very excited to use them with baby brother.
Today I’m rounding up some of my favorite new and genius baby products that I’m excited to use and why. I later plan to do a full Amazon registry post, as well. So much great baby gear!
5 New and Genius Baby Products I’m Excited to Use
1. Levana Oma Sense Monitor

I have to say, I’m probably the most excited about the Levana Oma Sense Monitor for baby brother. This monitors baby’s movements and breathing simply by clipping onto their clothes or diaper. It will stimulate baby with vibrations and alert you with an alarm if it detects no movement. Safe sleep is super important to me, especially in those first months where sleep schedules aren’t really a thing. I remember constantly checking on my girls to make sure they were breathing, especially if they were sleeping longer than usual. This monitor gives such peace of mind! It’s very small and compact with no wireless frequencies or Bluetooth signals. I seriously can’t wait to try this out. I like that I can use this in conjunction with the video monitor we have installed in the nursery. When baby eventually moves upstairs to his crib, we can monitor him not only by video but the Levana Oma Sense will also alert us if no movements are detected. Total win, win! If you want to purchase the Levana Oma Sense, you can use code MEGO20 directly on their site for $20 off! |
2. Binxy Baby Shopping Cart Hammock

I know this product has been around for a while (definitely since Caroline was a baby), but I never got one. I am so excited to have one this go around, because I have never been a mom to stay inside the house. I get so stir crazy and need outings with the baby, even if it is to walk the Target aisles and sip on some Starbucks. This shopping cart hammock safely gives baby a place to hang out without taking up too much space in the cart. How cool is that? |
3. Halo Dream Nest
As frequent travelers, we have used pack and plays quite a lot. Honestly, the Halo DreamNest is the upgraded and sleeker version. It has a breathable adjustable mattress, it can rock, and there is also an option to install a changing table on the top. I really like the minimalist design of the product, too. We plan to keep this downstairs as a little hub for baby. The changing table is installed on top and we have a little caddy of diapering essentials. Since I’ll be having a c-section, I’m going to have difficulty going up and down the stairs for diaper changes and for putting the baby down for naps. After the newborn days, we will definitely travel with this item. |
4. Bumbo Changing Pad

Why wasn’t anything like this around with my other two babies? I feel like I was always washing the changing pad covers. They were always getting soiled. I then saw that you can get a wipeable changing pad! Hallelujah! I was looking at the Keekaroo changing pad, but that sucker is pretty pricey. Luckily the Bumbo Changing Pad is $60 cheaper! |
5. Bumblebee Manual Pump

I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers I follow talk about how they’re using small manual pumps like these to collect let down on the other side while the baby is nursing. Such a genius idea! I was originally looking at getting the Hakaa, but this BumbleBee Manual Pump really caught my eye after seeing it on Instagram Stories. Someone I follow said they liked this one better because it comes with a stopper and a little stand, which can be very helpful if you’re clumsy and don’t want to cry over spilled milk. I’m excited to try this thing out! |
Like I mentioned, I’m seriously blown away by the innovation of these new and genius baby products that have emerged since I first became a mom. They’re totally going to make me the best parent ever. Haha!
