I never thought it would end, but the all-school musical is over! January was a very tough month for me personally, with tons of after school, Saturdays, and evenings away from my family. I thought it was hard with one kid….. but I had no idea. Two kids are no joke, especially with one under six months.
Mornings are early and busy around these parts, and I had the crazy idea to photograph one random morning a few weeks ago, and I’m just getting around to blogging about it. You all seem to love my Photo an Hour posts, and this is kinda like that, except it’s condensed in about an hour and a half’s time.
So, come spend the morning with me.
It’s before 6:00 a.m. Caroline has woken from her slumber and just had her morning feeding. She is still swaddled up, and is as happy as a clam.
I still can’t get over how cute this baby is and her epic hair. By the way, I started a hashtag for her on instagram, so follow along with #carolinesepichair. Haha.
She’s dressed and downstairs. She’s feeling a little feisty in her leopard pants. Side note: every time she wears those pants, she has a blow out. I thought that when I put those pants on her, and she did, indeed, have a blow out later that day. It’s still early before daddy gets up, so in the mamaRoo she goes. She loves hanging out in that thing in the morning. Big sister is still asleep and wakes up after I leave for the day (around 7:30).
I shower in the evenings because I am not a morning person. I’d rather spend that time sleeping. I get dressed and decide this looks terrible on me. I hate the in between phase of losing the baby weight. I can’t wait for my clothes to fit right again.
That’s more flattering. I don’t care if I’ve worn it a billion times to work already.
Deodorant goes on the pits and perfume all over. I am obsessed with this Tokyomilk Dark perfume. It smells sweet, yet dark. I suck at describing scents.
The hair is did. Pulled it back and curled the ends. Sprayed it with some L’Oreal Elnett hairspray. I used to hate this hairspray, but now I love it. It’s really the best for holding curls and it lasts forever and a day.
Daddy is awake and Caroline has been moved to the bed so she can hang out with him and I can talk to her from the bathroom as I get ready.
Makeup has been started. Also, my sink looks gross. I just saw this as I put this picture into this post. Sorry about that. Postpartum hair loss is no joke. Pictured: E.L.F. Tone Correcting Powder, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, L’Oreal True Match Foundation, MAC Blush in Melba, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser Treatment, Nars Ita Brush Knockoff, E.L.F. Blush Brush, and MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural
Using my Borghese eye palette. Love this thing!
Grabbing my lunch from the fridge. I always prep that the night before. If I don’t, I always end up eating like crap.
Making my coffee. Total essential. Starbucks. Gimme all the caffeine.
The weather decided to be super cold, which means my classroom will be ridiculously cold. So I threw on a scarf, some boots, and my jewelry. Now it’s time to hit the road and go to work.
Hope you enjoyed spending the early morning with me! I might make this a thing. You know, like a series. That is, if you all enjoyed it.

Loved this, Meg! You look ever so stylish going to work and you look incredible, especially for just having a baby. 🙂 And Caroline’s hair is epic. Love the hashtag! And I love the black and white photos for the morning. Such an artist you are, girllll. Xoxo

You amazed me ALL. THE. TIME. I don’t know how you juggle it all. This was just the morning and yet it seems like a day! You’re awesome Meg!

I love these kinds of posts!! I keep meaning to do another day in the life post, I want to try doing them every six months just to look back on 🙂
The postpartum hair loss struggle is REAL and girl I’m not judging you, my sink looks like that and my daughter is two (so no excuse haha!). Your mornings sound busy, I am most definitely not a morning person either, it’s why I work straight evening shifts (3-11) and require all the coffee when my toddler rolls her little tush out of bed in the morning.
