Lately, I’ve noticed that a lot of people are talking about collagen powder on social media. People are raving about the benefits of collagen for skin, hair, and nails. After seeing my Instagram friend, Lindsey, talk about it, I had to order some. I started taking it, and I began to notice some positive changes a few weeks in. I used the tub in a month and became hooked.
What is collagen powder?
In short, it is a tasteless powder that you can put in your coffee, beverages, or smoothies daily.
What are the benefits of taking collagen?
While I am no medical or nutrition expert, there are a lot of benefits to taking collagen (visit that link – there is lots of helpful information). The benefits I noticed for myself so far have been impressive!
My hair is growing so much faster and feels healthy, my nails are growing super fast and are getting very strong, my skin is clearer and feels more “radiant”, I am sleeping very soundly at night, and am feeling more satiated and full in the morning after taking my collagen (the protein in it keeps me fuller longer).
When I first started taking collagen, I was taking another popular brand. However, I recently had the opportunity to try Dr. Axe’s Multi Collagen Protein.
I was immediately drawn in that this particular collagen powder is derived from four different sources of collagen – bovine, chicken, fish, and egg. The previous popular collagen powder I was taking only had one source, so I was excited to up the ante on my collagen endeavors. Essentially, the Dr. Axe brand is a more complex blend of collagen that is full of so many good-for-you things I can’t possibly explain the science behind it in a few sentences. Just go read the product information, as it is far more thorough than I’ll ever be!
How to take collagen powder
I prefer taking the collagen powder in my morning coffee. The powder is completely tasteless, and I usually add a little almond milk creamer afterward. My latest thing is I’ve been loving to make bulletproof coffee with it!
How I make my bulletproof coffee is 1 tablespoon of grass-fed butter, 1 tablespoon of MCT oil (coconut oil is fine, too), a scoop of the Dr. Axe Multi Collagen Protein and black coffee. I give it a spin in my little personal blender and it comes out so deliciously frothy and smooth. No creamer needed! This definitely helps keep me full in the morning.
I feel very confident about my switch to this collagen powder, as the owner, Dr. Josh Axe, is a well-respected doctor of natural medicine. He is known for working with celebrity athletes and helping people get healthy by using food as medicine.
There really is no reason not to add collagen powder into your daily routine. One scoop can really make a difference! I’m all for easy ways to give myself a little health and beauty boost.
Have I convinced you to jump on the collagen bandwagon yet? I promise it’s worth it!
