Confession: we still have Valentine’s Day candy in our house. I’m pretty sure I had Halloween candy lingering around until Christmas. Every major holiday, we end up with so much candy that we possibly can’t eat all of. I usually throw everything away when the kids are asleep so I don’t become the mortal enemy. There’s just too much candy in this house!

Easter is right around the corner, and I am bound to shake things up this year.

We’ll be spending Easter at my mom’s house this year, but we always like to have our own Easter egg hunt at our house. I know my mom will probably give the girls way too much candy (haha), so a candy-free Easter egg hunt was a must. If you’re looking for some non-candy Easter egg filler ideas, maybe a few of these will help jog your creativity.

Non-Candy Easter Egg Filler Ideas:

  • Pennies for the piggy banks
  • Mini Bubbles
  • Stickers
  • Chalk
  • Crayons
  • Play jewelry
  • Stamps
  • My favorite idea: Hatchimals CollEGGtibles

I decided that it would be a lot of fun to have a candy-free Easter egg hunt using only Hatchimals CollEGGtibles!

My girls have become obsessed with Hatchimals after watching countless YouTube kids videos. They have collected lots of their own Hatchimals, and we have quite the collection! They’re just the cutest little toys that are also fun and interactive!

Hatchimals ColllEGGtibles are adorable little collectible animal toys that come inside small, speckled eggs. In order to “hatch” them from their eggs, you hold them in your hands and rub the heart until it turns pink. Once the heart turns pink, you press on the egg to crack it open to discover which Hatchimal CollEGGtible is inside. This is a lot of interactive fun for the kids.

Hatchimals are perfect Easter gifts or to use in an Easter egg hunt!

Since these adorable little creatures are already inside eggs, how fun would it be to scatter them around the yard for a candy-free Easter egg hunt? Brilliant idea, if I do say so myself.

I told the girls that we were going to have a fun Easter egg hunt, but all of the eggs were Hatchimals! They were excited, to say the least. The girls were totally into it!

Success! I love the idea of shaking up the idea of the traditional Easter egg hunt with some candy-free options. You could also have a traditional hunt but mix in some Hatchimals CollEGGtibles with eggs filled with any other non-candy option I listed above. Anything to reduce the candy, am I right?

I guarantee the kids won’t notice or miss the candy if they’re opening up a bunch of cute little Hatchimals CollEGGtibles!
