Great Wolf Lodge Property & Room Accommodations

The Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas is undergoing some major renovations and updates, but it’s not noticeable when you’re there as a visitor. All of the rooms are being renovated, and the updates are really nice! The staff is doing an incredible job of updating the property while also keeping things moving.

I have to say, the room accommodations at Great Wolf Lodge are some of the most spacious and family-friendly options I’ve seen. Even at a basic level, the rooms are huge, have plenty of storage, and comfy beds. You can see a room tour in the video I posted above!

The property itself is modern, very clean, well kept, and very well taken care of. Even the water park was very clean, which is no small feat. I loved how the property was decorated for Halloween (more on that in a minute!), and there was something fun for the kids to see and interact with at everywhere we turned.

Paw Pass

Consider purchasing a Paw Pass if you plan on partaking in the activities at Great Wolf Lodge. It will seriously keep your kids busy the entire weekend. It includes MagiQuest, MagiQuest wand, a Creation Station animal, Clubhouse Crew adventure, credits to the arcade, a candy cup, a pair of goggles, glitter tattoo, and a leather bracelet. If you were to pay for any of those things individually you’ll end up spending way more. I’d say if your kids want to do even two of those activities, the Paw Pass is worth it!

Things to Do at Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge is one of those resorts that you basically never have to leave – everything you will want to do is right there for you! This is especially convenient for families. While we do love vacations where we are always out and about exploring a city, we also love vacations where we can stay in one spot but still have plenty to do. Here are some of the things to do while you’re at Great Wolf Lodge without ever having to leave!

Indoor Water Park. This is the big draw to the resort, and I can see why. More on that in a minute!

Story Time. This happens throughout the day in the lobby. My kids loved story time before bed.

Dance Parties. This was also around the same time as story time. I loved that they wore the kids out with dancing and then a story right before bed. Haha!

Great Clock Tower Show. This happens throughout the day at the clock tower in the lobby. Characters come to life with songs and stories.

MagiQuest. Pretty sure this was Kennedy’s favorite thing besides the water park. It’s an interactive game you play around the grounds of the resort. You purchase a magic wand and then can participate in the game! There’s also an option for younger kids where they can “play” the game without going on the quest. Caroline loved that.

Northern Lights Arcade. What kid doesn’t love an arcade?

Creation Station. This is an adorable opportunity for the kids to create their own stuffed Great Wolf characters, complete with outfits.

Character Breakfast. The breakfast buffet is not only an impressive spread that is catered to the adults and little ones, it is a great opportunity to meet the Great Wolf characters and snap a few pictures.

Elements Spa. Because mom and dad always deserve a spa break!

Scoops Kids Spa. This is a fun ice cream themed kids spa where the little ones can get manis and pedis, facials, and other spa treatments.

These are only some of the activities offered at the resort. Visit here to see the full offerings and how the fun never stops!

Food & Beverage

There are a couple of restaurant options, all of which we felt were high quality. The buffet, Loose Moose, was delicious both at breakfast and dinner. The culinary team does a great job of having options for both kids and adults. They are also considered one of the top resorts to cater to food allergies. That’s pretty awesome!

They also have a full Starbucks on property, which is an added bonus for all the tired parents! Haha!

The Indoor Water Park at Great Wolf Lodge

The main attraction at Great Wolf Lodge is their indoor water park, and for good reason. There is over 80,000 square feet of water park on property, which makes for a full day of fun! We spent the majority of our Saturday at the water park, and it was a solid choice.

I have to say, this is a genius concept. No need to worry about sunburn, so don’t even bring sunscreen. Towels are everywhere – no need to bring those, either. And you can visit the water park any day of the year! No worrying about heat, rain, ice, snow, or cold. (In Texas, we’re mostly worried about it being too hot or too rainy.)

There is something for everyone at the water park, including shallow areas and small slides for the little ones and more thrilling slides for the adventure seekers. There’s a lazy river, hot tub, wave pool, tree house water fort, tipping bucket, and so much more! I also really appreciated that there were Lifeguards and staff members everywhere around the water park to ensure safety.

Not to mention, there’s also outdoor water areas. We had so much fun indoors we didn’t even make it outside to swim. Crazy!

October is a fantastic time to visit Great Wolf Lodge because it’s during their Howl-O-Ween Fun. During the entire month of October, they have Halloween-themed activities going on, and the resort is decked out in spooky decorations. We were able to get a preview of some of the activities they have lined up, including the Trick-or-Treat trail. I’d definitely say come visit a weekend in October!

Bottom Line

A weekend is the perfect amount of time to spend at . We all had a wonderful getaway! We’ve been super spoiled this year with incredible travels, and my kids seriously loved Great Wolf Lodge and will not stop talking about it. That says a lot in itself!

I love that there are so many locations and it’s pretty accessible for everyone across the U.S. Having something within driving distance saves a lot of money and makes it super easy for a weekend getaway. We’d 100% recommend it!
