Top 10 Travel Moments of 2018
I thought it would be a lot of fun to sit down and recap our 2018 travels in a fun way. 2018 was a year absolutely full of travel, and it makes my heart so happy that we were able to do it all.
Instead of talking about every single trip, I thought I would highlight my favorite travel moments from this year with lots of fun photos and maybe a tip or two if you are considering travel to any of these places.
Just to recap, here’s where I went in 2018. Some are family trips, some are solo trips. I’ll link everything with a blog post or an Instagram photo in case you’d like to read full travel guides or see more photos.
February: Disney World, 3-Night Disney Cruise on the Disney Dream
April: Washington, D.C., 7-Night Disney Cruise on the Disney Fantasy
May: Scottsdale, Arizona
June: Washington, D.C., New York City
July: Texas Hill Country
August: Nashville & Kentucky, Pacific Northwest
September: Great Wolf Lodge
October: Beaches Turks & Caicos
November: New England, Los Angeles
Now let’s get to my favorite travel moments and experiences from 2018! These are definitely in no particular order.
Hot Air Balloon Ride in Scottsdale
Riding in a hot air balloon when I visited Scottsdale with my girlfriends was an incredible experience. I had ridden in one with Greg before when we visited Napa Valley, and it was just as magical the second time. I would totally do it over and over again.
Indoor Water Park at Great Wolf Lodge
The girls absolutely loved Great Wolf Lodge. They still talk about it, almost as much as they talk about Disney! It was a really memorable trip and such a fun weekend away within driving distance. Their indoor water park is absolutely worth the visit!
Top of the Rock in New York City
We loved taking our kids to New York City, and had an incredible time. In our opinion, Top of the Rock is the best place to get panoramic views of the city. We like it better than the Empire State Building. It’s such a great spot for amazing photo opps, too!
Driving the Oregon Coast
In August, I partnered with Mazda to drive the 2019 Miata around in the Pacific Northwest with my friend Katie. The Oregon coast was something I never knew I needed to put on my bucket list until I was there. It was breathtaking and magical. I highly suggest a PNW road trip to be put on your bucket list!
The Girls’ First Broadway Play in New York City
If you have been following for a while, you know that my background is in theatre. I taught high school theatre for 8 years and junior high theatre for 2 years. It is one of those itches that rarely get scratched nowadays, so I was thrilled to be able to take my children to their first Broadway play in New York City. Not to mention, I love the opportunity to experience a little Disney magic while we’re at it. Everyone in the family loved Frozen.
Happily Ever After Fireworks at Disney World
I totally teared up watching these fireworks for the first time. My kids were amazed. It’s one of those things you can’t explain. Something about that Disney magic gets you right in the feels and makes you a blubbering mess. I went home and watched YouTube videos of the fireworks and cried some more. Haha.
Catamaran Port Adventure in St. Maarten
It’s so hard to pick one thing out of the two Disney cruises we did this year. But if I really had to, this stood out to Greg and I the most. When we were on our 7-Night Disney Cruise in April, they arranged a catamaran port adventure in St. Maarten. I literally felt like Beyonce, it was so incredible. I kept thinking, “Is this real life? How did I deserve this?” That day really humbled me and made me feel so grateful to have experienced something so out-of-this-world thanks to my blog.
Grace Bay at Beaches Turks & Caicos
This solo trip to Beaches Turks & Caicos with my friend Katie (blogger travel buddy for life) started out rough because I broke my foot two days before the trip, but it was still an incredible time. Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos is rated the number one beach in the world by TripAdvisor, so of course this had to make the list. It was absolutely stunning!
Our Kids Seeing Cinderella’s Castle for the First Time
Not the prettiest photo quality, but one of the best moments of our trip to Disney World. Seeing your kids’ faces as they walk down Mainstreet, USA is priceless!
The Entire 7-Night Disney Cruise
I told you it was so hard to pick one thing that’s the best part of a Disney Cruise, so I’m picking the entire cruise. Sorry not sorry. Honestly, both cruises were the most magical experiences we’ve ever had as a family. The 3-night cruise is perfect for those who want to experience it for the first time and are unsure of longer sailings. The 7-night Disney Cruise is even more magical because you truly get to spend more time experiencing all Disney Cruise Line has to offer. This trip was, by far, my number one favorite family vacation we’ve taken!
Did you travel anywhere this year? Where did you go?
